The Momentum of Poverty.

Posted in frozen frames, thought spills by enisea on 31/01/2010

I took this photo about a year ago. At one of the islands off Thailand – no-man’s lands – people belonging to no nation in particular. This was one kid’s amusement – a single bicycle wheel. At the time I thought it was cute, now I don’t. Not because the rich only have room for sympathy between them and the poor, but because…because there is an innocence, an ignorance about what is accepted and what is just. Dare I say between the rich and poor, these children of poverty were and are probably closer to contentment then children of consumerism. However, I’m learning newer definitions of poverty, ie: the starvation of opportunity and lack of enough. Whatever enough means.
