Who died?

Easter. Eggs. Hot. Chocolate. Cross. Hot. Buns. Edible. Obesity. Rabbit. Marshmallows. Holiday. Extended. Weekend. What? Religion. Oh. Jesus? Yeah. Cool.

What with the dominant grocery retailers having bombarded our supermarket shelfs for at least a month now with chocolate moulds and coloured foil, go figure half of us wouldn’t even question the reasons for an extra-long weekend. Whatever, something catholic, four-day weekend!

But what if Good Friday signified the greatest demonstration of love this world in its entire history, could ever know?! Would we ever know? Because somehow, a God who knows everything, who exists omnipresent, omnipotent and who sees everything, saw pass our failings- our grotesque perspectives of corrupt and greedy selfishnesses and sent His son, Emmanuel, whose name meant God is with us. But why would He be, when holiness cannot be in the presence of imperfection? How far would love – the truest, deepest, most heart-wrenching, endlessly devoted love – go to win back those it loved, though they stunk of wretchedness and dripped of greed.  Two thousand and ten years later, would we tell our children? Would we bow our heads, commemorate and celebrate such an act with the respect and justice deserved? Could we ever grasp what it was worth? That God who was truth and love and light and life died for love and then lived again with the freedom for us to join Him, if we so desired to be found complete and whole? Because somehow death died to love. Somehow love can’t lose. Clearly we’ve now separated love from the pansy “love” in pathetic theatre – portrayed more as lustful infatuation than able to capture love and the promise of its committment!

I promise you, Love exists; true as ever and ever after. And is as concrete and inconceivable as eternity.

You weren’t meant to be alone. Ever.

Love Lives Forever.
